Claypool
Officers with the Claypool Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 6:53 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, South County Farm Road, south of East CR 1000S, Claypool. Driver: William F. Baxter, 65, North Market Street, North Manchester. Baxter was traveling north on County Farm Road when his vehicle left the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 7:17 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 8751 N. 850E, Syracuse. Driver: Zackery R. Clark, 20, East Wawasee Lane, Syracuse. Clark was traveling south on North CR 850E when he swerved his vehicle to avoid a deer. This resulted in his vehicle leaving the roadway and hitting a shed, landscaping and a fence on the property at 8751 N. 850E, Syracuse. Damage up to $10,000.
- 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, East Armstrong Road, east of Brown Road, Leesburg. Driver: Marissa K. Scheumann, 28, North Sawgrass Lane, Leesburg. Scheumann was traveling east on East Armstrong Road when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $1,000.
- 9:18 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 25, East US 30, east of South CR 325E, Warsaw. Drivers: Paula M. Altstaetter, 65, Reservoir Road 608, Lima, Ohio; and Jeryl B. Cooke, 76, Parkcrest Drive, Fort Wayne. Altstaetter was traveling east on East US 30 when she changed lanes since a vehicle was tailgating her. As she was changing lanes, she sideswiped Cooke’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 7:18 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 25, East SR 14, east of South County Farm Road, Silver Lake. Driver: Shanell M. Brazo-Iseton, 30, West Old Trail Road, Larwill. Brazo-Iseton was traveling east on SR 14 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
- 2:52 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 25, North First Street, near West Catholic Street, Pierceton. Driver: Shiloh L. Steiner, 46, South CR 500E, Pierceton. Steiner was traveling south on North First Street and attempted to turn west onto Catholic Street when his vehicle ran over a stop sign. Steiner continued and hit a Nipsco gas meter, pushing it partially into a building. His vehicle also hit a wooden stairway connected to the building. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
- 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 25, South CR 700W, south of West CR 900S, Claypool. Driver: Jacquelin S. Patrick, 59, South Don Way, Claypool. Patrick was traveling south on CR 700W when a deer entered the roadway. She swerved her vehicle to avoid hitting the deer, resulting in her vehicle leaving the roadway and hitting an REMC pole. Damage up to $5,000.
- 11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, North CR 800W, south of West CR 640N, Etna Green. Driver: Kaleb J. Elliott, 17, South Summit Street, Nappanee. Elliott was traveling north on North CR 800W when a deer entered the roadway. To avoid hitting the deer, Elliott swerved his vehicle, resulting in his vehicle left the roadway and rolled. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
- 10:09 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, East Armstrong Road, north of North CR 75E, Warsaw. Driver: Joshua C. Kauffman, 40, West CR 800N, Nappanee. Kauffman was traveling north on North CR 75E when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a roadway sign. Damage up to $2,500.
- 7:37 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, West SR 25, east of South CR 1200W, Mentone. Driver: Glenn W. Kletz, 33, West Elcona Drive, North Judson. Kletz was traveling east on SR 25 when his vehicle left the roadway, tipping onto its passenger side before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $100,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 2:06 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2556 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Driver: Lloyd J. Bowerman, 76, South CR 950W, Mentone. Bowerman attempted to turn right in a parking lot when he hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 10:27 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2034 E. Center St., Warsaw. Drivers: Tonya S. Enyeart, 53, West CR 1400N, North Manchester; and James S. Merritt, 77, North Shagbark Drive, Warsaw. Enyeart was backing her vehicle when she hit Merritt’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
