Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, SR 15, Leesburg. Driver: Michelle Flynn, 59, West CR 900N, Milford. Flynn’s vehicle collided with a deer. Damage up to $10,000.
- 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, North CR 400W, Nappanee. Driver: Kayla B. Benton, 30, Walnut Street, Nappanee. Benton said a dog ran out in front of her vehicle, causing her to swerve. Her vehicle struck a stop sign and a boulder. Damage up to $10,000.
- 11:31 a.m. Tuesday, Dec.14, Adams Road, Pierceton. Driver: Beau D. Ryman, 28, Walnut Street, Etna Green. Ryman said he fell asleep while driving. His vehicle went off the road and struck a mailbox. Remain complained of pain in his left knee but refused medical treatment at the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 5:33 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, Huntington Street, north of Palm Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Daniel R. Oradat, 76, Stonewall Court, Nappanee. Oradel’s vehicle went off the road and into a ditch. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, Kings Highway, north of Wooster Road, Winona Lake. Drivers: Jose J. Alvarez, 20, Winona Avenue, Warsaw; and Jacquelyn M. Garcia, 30, Sycamore Lane, Bluffton. Garcia said she had stopped at the stop sign and was proceeding through the intersection when her vehicle was struck by Alvarez’s vehicle. Alvarez gave Garcia his name and phone number but said he was late for work and needed to leave. Police later went to Alvarez’s residence and found his vehicle there with damage to the front left corner, consistent with the damage described at the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
