WARSAW — A Leesburg man was recently arrested after allegedly throwing a soda can at a woman, causing injury.
Devin Stuart Gerding, 25, 4527 N. 175E, Leesburg, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and domestic battery with moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 18, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a domestic complaint in Warsaw. Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy spoke with a woman.
According to court documents, the woman said she and Gerding were talking at her home when he got into a pickup truck and left. The woman placed three children into her vehicle and followed Gerding to an undisclosed location. When the woman left her vehicle and approached Gerding’s truck, Gerding allegedly opened his vehicle’s door in an aggressive manner, hitting the woman in her pelvic area.
The woman also said Gerding threw either a bottle or can at her; it hit her on the hand, causing her severe pain. The deputy noticed a red abrasion on the woman’s hip, as well as swelling and discoloration on her right hand.
Gerding told the deputy he did throw a pop can at the woman.
Gerding was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 4, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
