‘The Guncle’ Is Book Club Pick

“The Guncle” by Steven Rowley, has been chosen the Adult Book Club pick for December at the Syracuse Public Library,
Rowley is best known for “Lily and the Octopus” and “The Editor.” “The Guncle” is a warm and deeply funny novel about a once-famous gay sitcom star whose unexpected family tragedy leaves him with his niece and nephew for the summer.
Copies of the book are available at the Syracuse Public Library. Patrons can also use Libby or OverDrive to check out an e-book of “The Guncle.” Discussions will occur at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, via Zoom and at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in person at the library.

Last Week For Food Drive
The Syracuse Public Library’s autumn food drive for the Syracuse Food Pantry ends Friday, Dec. 10. Bring donations of nonperishable food or basic toiletries to one library’s entries, where boxes are located. Monetary donations can be left at either circulation desk; address checks to the Syracuse Food Pantry.
New Giveaway
Take a guess about how many holiday candies are in the upstairs guessing jar at the library. Whoever guesses closest will win a Coca-Cola polar bear beanie, perfect for colder weather. The contest runs from Dec. 1-17. The library will announce the winner Dec. 20. If more than one person guesses correctly, a drawing between winners will occur.
