Giving Tuesday An Ideal Time To Remember The Library
News Release
NORTH WEBSTER — You have probably heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but do you know about Giving Tuesday?
It’s an annual day of generosity celebrated around the world inspiring people to make an impact on the causes and issues they care about. Giving Tuesday is Nov. 30 and an ideal time to give to the North Webster Community Public Library Endowment Fund at Kosciusko County Community Foundation to help support the work of the library in your community. You can make a tax deductible donation online on the library’s Facebook page, website www.nweb.lib.in.us or Kosciusko County Community Foundation website www.kcfoundation.org. More information about Giving Tuesday can be found at www.givingtuesday.org.
Due to popular demand, Baby and Toddler Time in the Youth Department has been extended through Dec. 28. Every Tuesday at 11 a.m. young patrons, ages birth to 36 month, have fun exploring books, stories, rhymes and songs with their parents or caregivers. Strategies and resources to promote early literacy are also shared.
To create special Christmas photos, holiday-themed photographic backdrops are available free of charge in the Youth Department. Just bring your family and camera to the library, stand in front of the backdrop of your choice and snap a picture. You can then take your photo to a vendor for printing.
A full length photographic backdrop will also be available for free use at the Friends of the Library’s Book Sale and Santa’s Workshop Tuesday, Nov. 30 and Wednesday, Dec. 1. Along with gently used books, handmade bowl cozies, mug rugs, fleece keyhole scarves and gift baskets will be for sale. Free letter to Santa templates and coloring sheets will be available for the kids. Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Proceeds go to support the work of the library.
Paws-to-Read therapy dog Gracie and her handler Liz Salerno are taking a break for the holidays. Therapy dog Mindy with her handler Janet Krull will be available to read with children 4:15-5 p.m. Mondays and Irish from Special O.P.S. K-9 Academy at the same time on Wednesdays. Reading sessions with the dogs are by appointment and can be scheduled by contacting the youth services desk.
