SL Council Member Wants Store In Town
Dear Editor,
My name is Nichole Taylor. While I am currently a town council member of Silver Lake, the sole purpose of this letter is to express my personal opinion and only my opinion.
I am writing this letter regarding the corner property of Dixie Drive and SR 15 in Silver Lake. Dollar General is wanting to rezone the property from residential to commercial to put in a grocery store.
I personally feel that this business would be a great opportunity for Silver Lake to grow. Our town superintendent said that our sewer and water would be able to handle the business.
A business like this will benefit the residents in many ways, including bringing job openings to Silver Lake. Having a grocery store in town would be more convenient for the residents so they would not have to drive a long distance to get groceries or something that they may have forgotten while in Warsaw or another big town.
We have a Family Dollar and I personally like to shop there. They do not carry everything a grocery store would carry.
There have been times that they did not have what I needed. If we had another place to shop, then there would be more items available to the residents.
Residents were concerned with looking at their windows at a store. The engineer said they would be putting a fence up near Dixie Drive with landscape to hide the store.
Please take this letter as a statement to my personal opinion. I am not speaking for the other two council members as they have their own opinions.
