Valley Issues Statement On Fatal Accident

AKRON — Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. has issued a statement regarding the death of one of its students and injury of another in an accident on Friday, Nov. 5.
The statement, issued on Sunday, Nov. 7, read:
“The Tippecanoe Valley School Corp., Valley Family, and our community are saddened by the tragic loss and injury to our students over the weekend. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with all involved.”
“Additional school counselors and pastoral support will be on site this week.”
On Friday night, Tippecanoe Valley Middle School student Brelynna “Bre” Felix, 12, of Akron, was killed after being hit by a vehicle near SR 19 and CR 50N north of Akron in Fulton County. Her brother Isaiah Felix, 15, a Tippecanoe Valley High School student, received head and facial injuries and was taken first to Lutheran in Fort Wayne before being transported to Indianapolis for treatment.
Police found the driver of the vehicle, Gage Rogers, 26, on Saturday, Nov. 6. He left the scene of the accident on Friday before police arrived.
Rogers was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Saturday with charges of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury.
