Syracuse Book Club To Discuss ‘Once We Were Brothers’

SYRACUSE — The adult book club meets to discuss “Once We Were Brothers” by Ronald H. Balson at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 via Zoom and then at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in person in the downstairs meeting room. “Once We Were Brothers” is a contemporary legal thriller and a poignant look back into the lives of small-town Poland during World War II.

Shelly Krueger has two Christmas crafts – a Christmas notebook and a cute cupcake ornament – planned from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30. This craft program is free and open to all ages. It will occur in the library’s downstairs meeting room.

Homeschool And Storytime Break For Holidays
Storytime and the homeschool program wrap up for the holidays at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19. School-aged children will do cardboard engineering during the homeschool program, while toddlers and preschoolers will learn more about the alphabet, enjoy stories and take part in other activities.
The children’s department will take a programming break in December, but children are encouraged to check out the new interactive display while getting materials. The winner for November’s guessing game display will be announced after Thanksgiving.
Storytime and the homeschool program will return at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14. There will also be a Wednesday storytime, starting Jan. 12.
Closed For Thanksgiving
The Syracuse Public Library will be closed in observation of Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25-26. The library will be open as normal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27. On those same closing dates, Evergreen Indiana will be down for an update. During that time, Overdrive/Libby and Hoopla may also be down.
