Syracuse Man Arrested For Drug Possession
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Syracuse man was recently arrested after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of 18 grams of methamphetamine.
Ronald Alan Tackitt, 59, 11531 N. Syracuse Webster Road, Syracuse, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 4 felony; possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, a level 3 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On July 14, an Indiana State trooper in an unmarked patrol vehicle was observing a suspicious vehicle. When a marked police vehicle appeared in the area, the suspicious vehicle made an abrupt turn into a restaurant’s parking lot.
According to court documents, when the vehicle left the restaurant, the state trooper saw the vehicle cross the fog line (the white line on the outer edges of the road). The trooper then pulled the vehicle over. He noticed two people in the vehicle were moving items around from the center console area between them. Officers identified the vehicle’s driver as Tackitt.
While searching the vehicle, officers found a pill bottle containing 13.1 grams of methamphetamine, a plastic bag containing 5.3 grams of methamphetamine, and two glass pipes.
Tackitt told officers the methamphetamine in the vehicle belonged to him and also said he has a prior conviction for drug dealing.
Tackitt was previously convicted of dealing cocaine in Elkhart County in 2005, and narcotic drug possession in Noble County in 2005.
For this case, Tackitt was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 2, with a $20,250 surety and cash bond.
