Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 7:18 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, North SR 15, south of West CR 600N, Leesburg. Driver: David E. Patterson, 66, North Elm Street, Albion. Patterson was traveling southbound on SR 15 south of CR 600N, Leesburg, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 6:52 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, West CR 700S, west of South CR 450W, Silver Lake. Driver: Wyatt J. Howard, 22, North Broadway Street, Mentone. Howard was traveling eastbound on CR 700S approaching CR 450W, Silver Lake, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 5:39 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, East Old Road 30, east of North CR 450E, Warsaw. Driver: Mary C. Border, 71, Lincoln Highway, Bourbon. Border was traveling eastbound on East Old Road 30, Warsaw, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 8:19 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, East US 30, east of South CR 325E, Warsaw. Driver: Brianna M. Lynch, 20, South CR 150W, Kouts. Lynch was traveling eastbound on US 30 in the area of South CR 325E, Warsaw, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, South CR 1000W, north of West CR 500S, Mentone. Driver: Jenny C. Wadkins, 23, North Tucker Street, Mentone. Wadkins was traveling northbound on South CR 1000W in the area north of West CR 500S, Mentone, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, South CR 750E, north of East CR 500S, Pierceton. Driver: Noe Ybarra, 36, East Arthur Street, Sidney. Ybarra was traveling southbound on South CR 750E north of East CR 500S, Pierceton. He said a vehicle was traveling northbound in his lane of travel. He swerved and left the roadway, with his vehicle hitting a ditch. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 8:33 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, South Country Club Road, north of East Winona Beach Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Victoria G. Fuller, 28, South Blue Spruce Road, Warsaw. Fuller was traveling southbound on South Country Club Drive near the intersection of East Winona Beach Drive, Warsaw, when his vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 11:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, East CR 750S and South CR 550E, Pierceton. Driver: Robert K. King, 61, North CR 100E, Wabash. King was traveling home from work. He had to drive a different way due to a detour. He missed his turn and ran off the road due to wet road conditions and not being familiar with the road he was on. King was checked out by EMS on scene due to complaint of pain in his wrist. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 9:04 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, North CR 300E, north of East CR 1100N, Syracuse. Driver: Tasha J. Sabin, 40, North Koher Road, Syracuse. Sabin was traveling southbound on North CR 300E in the area north of East CR 1100N, Syracuse, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 8:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, North CR 1000E, south of East CR 1250N, Syracuse. Driver: Bob R. Schisler, 21, East Hatchery Road, Syracuse. Schisler was traveling southbound on North CR 1000E, Syracuse. He tried to avoid a group of deer crossing the road but hit one. He lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 7:01 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, East CR 1300N, east of North CR 300E, Syracuse. Drivers: Jordan N. Brooks, 23, East CR 350N, Pierceton; and Molly M. Knafel, 17, East Beer Road, Milford. Knafel was traveling eastbound on East CR 1300N in the area of North CR 300E, Syracuse. Brooks’ vehicle was traveling northbound on North CR 300E in the area of East CR 1300N. Knafel said Brooks’ vehicle didn’t stop at the stop sign and continued into the intersection of East CR 1300N and into her vehicle’s path. Her vehicle hit Brooks’. Brooks’ and a passenger in her vehicle were unconscious and later transported to the hospital. Knafel complained of pain in her ankle and a passenger in her vehicle complained of pain in his wrist. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 4:52 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, East CR 1400N, east of North Warner Road, Syracuse. Drivers: Ryden J. Manning, 17, South Huntington Street, Syracuse; and Joshua S. Swinehart, 26, East Lincoln Street, Millersburg. Manning had stopped at the stop sign on North Warner Road and East CR 1400N, Syracuse. He waited until traffic was clear, then proceeded to turn onto CR 1400N. He didn’t see and hit Swinehart’s vehicle with his, pushing it up against an utility pole. Both drivers and a passenger were checked for injuries. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 7:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, East CR 1250S, west of Ulrey Road, North Manchester. Driver: Ashley N. Antrobus, 34, South CR 600E, North Manchester. Antrobus was traveling westbound on East CR 1250S near the area of South Ulrey Road, North Manchester, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 2:39 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, North CR 1100W, south of CR 900N, Bourbon. Driver: Unknown. A vehicle with an unknown driver struck a utility pole then went into a ditch. It had been traveling northbound on North CR 1100W in the area of CR 900N, Bourbon.
- 10:49 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, South SR 15, north of West CR 1300S, Silver Lake. Driver: Kristi D. Lundquist, 53, South Old SR 15, Wabash. Lundquist was traveling southbound on SR 15, Silver Lake, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, East CR 900S, east of South CR 600E, Claypool. Driver: Corey T. Whelpley, 37, South Packerton Road, Silver Lake. Whelpley was traveling eastbound on CR 900S approaching East CR 600E, Claypool. His vehicle hydroplaned and went off the roadway. It went into a ditch and hit a tree. His vehicle hit another tree when he was trying to back out of the ditch and onto the roadway. Damage: Up to $5,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 7:33 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, SR 13 south, of Channel Street, North Webster. Driver: Linda S. Needler, 72, East Ponderosa Drive, North Webster. Needler was traveling southbound on South Main Street, North Webster, when she turned too soon and hit a curb with her vehicle. Damage: Up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 3:57 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 700 W. 300N, Warsaw. Driver: Mark A. Lingofelter, 64, North CR 600W, Nappanee. Lingofelter’s vehicle hit a parked vehicle. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 10:16 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, SR 15, north of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Luke A. Kreft, 25, 17B Road, Tippecanoe; and Maria T. Rodriguez, 54, East Old Road 30, Pierceton. Kreft said he was traveling northbound on SR 15 in the left lane. While traveling north, he approached the Anchorage Road intersection. He saw the light was red and applied his vehicle’s brakes, but they failed. He couldn’t stop and his vehicle hit Rodriguez’. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 9:13 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 101 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Driver: Daniel J. Warner, 19, Rivercrest Drive, Warsaw. Warner was backing out of a parking spot. His back window was fogged up, which made it difficult to back up. His vehicle hit a parked vehicle. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 4:22 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2568 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Drivers: Jonathon S. Metz, 42, Springhill Road, Warsaw; and Courtney L. Thompson, 22, Hilltop Drive, Columbia City. Metz said he was traveling westbound in the parking lot near the intersection of Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. He said he became distracted by someone he knew that was walking by his vehicle. He turned his head to wave at the person and his vehicle hit Thompson’s. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 9:18 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, US 30, north of East Old 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Kathryn E. Battles, 66, Cedar Road, Mishawaka; and Feliciano Luna, 75, Bayview Drive, Fort Wayne. Their vehicles collided. Battles was checked out on scene by medics. Damage: Up to $25,000.
- 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 938 N. Detroit St., Warsaw. Driver: Marcos E. Gonzalez Rosales, 23, Chamberlin Drive, Warsaw. Gonzalez Rosales was operating his vehicle when it left the roadway and drove up onto a curb located in front of Take Action, 938 N. Detroit St., Warsaw. The vehicle also hit a parked vehicle and became stuck on a large rock. Gonzalez was arrested for an OWI. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 9:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2556 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Drivers: Unknown. Mackenzie L. Connolly, East Clark Street, Warsaw, was working inside at Game Stop, Warsaw, when the crash occurred. She discovered damage to her vehicle at 9:20 p.m. when she left work. It appears a vehicle backed into hers. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 8:42 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, South Columbia Street and West Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Luis Gerardo-Guzman, 21, West Market Street, Warsaw; and Ma D. Carmen Maldonado De Cer, 53, Crescent Drive, Warsaw. Their vehicles collided. Gerardo-Guzman was cited for not having a valid driver’s license. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 4:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, East Center Street and North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kristina E. Lyons, 41, North Green Avenue, Syracuse; and Odmaa Enkhjargal, 32, Shawnee Drive, Warsaw. Lyons said she was traveling westbound on East Center Street just east of the intersection of Parker Street, Warsaw. She said she was traveling behind Enkhjargal’s vehicle and that the light turned green. She said she started to sneeze and assumed Enkhjargal had started to travel west. However Enkhjargal had not started to travel yet, and Lyons’ vehicle hit hers. Damage: Up to $1,000.
- 4:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, West US 30, west of North CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Mason D. Havens, 20, CR 18, Elkhart; and Roy W. Green, 58, East CR 500S, Warsaw. Havens was traveling eastbound on West US 30 near the North CR 150W intersection, Warsaw. He said he was slowing in traffic and failed to stop in time to avoid hitting Green’s vehicle. He became distracted because he got sweat in his eye. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 4:13 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2501 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Drivers: Carol L. Martin, 59, North Lake Street, Warsaw; and Chanque C. Cerita Jones, 33, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Martin’s and Cerita Jones’ vehicles collided. Damage: Up to $10,000.
