Wawasee FFA Soils Judging Teams Competing At State Contest

SYRACUSE — Wawasee swept the competition at the Area Soils Contest Oct. 6 where they judged physical soil properties and made recommendations for homesites and cropland. Three teams qualified for the state contest that will be held Oct. 15-16 in DuBois County.
Wawasee took five teams to the competition. In total, 22 teams and 92 individuals competed in the senior division.
First place team in the senior division:
Jared Beer (first place individual)
Cade Beer (second place individual)
Justin Mullet (third place individual)
Jake Wilkinson (sixth place individual)
Fourth place team in the senior division:
Ryan Menzie (ninth place individual)
Landen Kessler (14th place individual)
Braxton Hollar (16th place individual)
David Anderson (23rd place individual)
Two teams and nine individuals competed in the junior division:

Wyatt Schafer (first place individual)
Coltin Bucher (third place individual)
Emerson Krull (fourth place individual)
Carter Grady (fifth place individual)
Also participating in soils judging this year were Gabe Ihnen, Zeke Ihnen, Sophia Streikus, Lex Locklin, Caydence Chupp, Lucas Wilkinson, Preston Miller, John Wilkinson and Jace Beer. The Wawasee soils judging teams are coached by Brad Clayton and Mariah Roberts.
