COLUMBIA CITY — A man was recently arrested after allegedly molesting a child three times.
Dale Curtis Craig, 32, Auburn, is charged with three counts of child molesting, all level 4 felonies.
On June 26, a Columbia City Police officer responded to a report of child molestation. A man reported a child was molested by Craig.
Officers interviewed the man about what happened. According to court documents, the man said he left the child to stay with a relative on May 27. Craig was the relative’s ex-spouse.
When the man picked the child up on June 24, the child said they didn’t want to be around Craig anymore. A woman told the man on June 26 that she received a text message from the child. The child said they were inappropriately touched three times by Craig.
In an interview with officers, the child recalled the instances where they were inappropriately touched by Craig.
Officers interviewed Craig about the molestations on July 8. When confronted about the allegations, Craig became very emotional and said the child’s allegations were not true. He denied touching the child or saying anything inappropriate to them.
Craig was booked in the Whitley County Jail on Sept. 23, with a $50,000 surety bond.
