Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 3:47 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, East CR 1100N, east of North CR 1000E, Cromwell. Driver: Ted W. Grumme, 46, East Waco Drive, Syracuse. Grumme was traveling east, just west of North CR 1000E, when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 5:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, North CR 500E, south of East CR 800N, Syracuse. Driver: Tammy J. Ramirez, 47, East CR 650N, Leesburg. Ramirez was traveling north on CR 500E when a deer hit the front passenger side of her vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 7:03 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2011 Vixen Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Donald L. Butts, 86, Red Squirrel Court, Warsaw. Butts was pulling into a driveway when he hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 1:23 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, Frontage Road and Eastlake Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Shane C. Smalley, 26, East CR 400N, Warsaw; Brian A. Watkins, 56, North Eastshore Drive, Syracuse; and Christopher J. Sparke, 56, South CR 600E, Pierceton. Smalley said he was traveling west on Frontage Road toward the signal at Eastlake Drive. He said as he approached the traffic that was stopped for a red signal, he began to slow. He wasn’t able to stop in time and his vehicle hit Watkins’, which caused Watkins’ vehicle to hit Sparke’s. Smalley said he hadn’t been feeling well and was tired at the time of the collision. Damage up to $10,000.
