Notre Dame 41, Wisconsin 13
The Irish put on a show in the Shamrock Series contest at Soldier Field.
Chris Tyree had a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to help the Irish pull away from the Badgers, igniting a 31-point fourth quarter. The Irish defense pressured Badger quarterback Graham Mertz into four interceptions on the day and five turnovers overall.
Kevin Austin Jr. had 76 yards receiving and two touchdowns for Notre Dame, which moves to 4-0 overall.
Purdue 13, Illinois 9
Purdue rallied to salvage a win at Ross-Ade.
A touchdown pass from Aidan O’Connell to TJ Sheffield late in the fourth quarter put the Boilers up for good. The Purdue defense then held on, knocking away a pass on fourth down to ice the contest. O’Connell and Jack Plummer combined for 277 passing yards. Illinois’ Josh McCray rushed for 156 yards in the loss.
Baylor 31, Iowa State 29
Baylor stopped a two-point try in the final seconds to complete the upset of the No. 14 Iowa State in Waco.
Breece Hall caught a 16-yard touchdown pass with 24 seconds left, but the Cyclones couldn’t convert the two-pointer, Baylor intercepting it to thwart the rally. Hall had 241 yards of total offense and three touchdowns for the Cyclones.
Andrew Mevis made field goals of 40, 38 and 39 yards in the loss for Iowa State.
Boston College 41, Missouri 34
The Eagles upset the Tigers in overtime at Chestnut Hill.
Harrison Mevis nailed a 56-yard field goal at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime, but BC held Mizzou out of the endzone then Zay Flowers scored on a 10-yard pass to end it.
Mevis also hit a 28-yard chip shot and all four of his extra point tries.
Toledo 22, Ball State 12
In MACtion in Muncie, Toledo staved off the hosts to pick up its first conference win.
A Thomas Cluckey 22-yard field goal put Toledo up eight, 20-12, and a safety as time ran out finished off the win over the Cardinals.
Jacob Lewis had three field goals and Justin Hall caught seven passes for 97 yards for the Cardinals.
Indiana 33, Western Kentucky 31
The Hoosiers escaped an upset bid by the Hilltoppers in Bowling Green.
Stephen Carr rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, including the eventual game winner midway through the fourth quarter. Michael Penix Jr. had 373 yards passing and a rushing touchdown and Charles Campbell hit all four of his field goal tries to highlight the Hoosier victory.
Wawasee JV 40, Plymouth 8
The Warriors crushed the Rockies Saturday morning at the Rock Pile.
Jaxon Brown had a big game for the Warriors, scoring two touchdowns, recovering a fumble and making 13 tackles on defense. Mason Shoemaker added three total touchdowns and Payton Sewell had 12 tackles and a forced fumble.
“All the players came to play this morning. They played with energy, passion and executed the plays with focus to secure the win,” said Wawasee coach Clayton Cook.
