Cross country results: Sept. 18
A total of 1,963 runners finished the course on a hot day at the 54th annual New Prairie Cross Country Invitational, held in N Carlisle. More than 100 high school teams from Indiana, Michigan and Illinois participated in the huge event.
Locally, Warsaw finished second in the boys AAA class with 152 points, placing just behind NLC rival Northridge which scored a 106, including a first place individual time of 15:58.6 by Raider Jack Moore, which was almost 30 seconds ahead of the next finisher.
Harrison Phipps placed 15th overall in the class, clocking a 17:02.4. Running in a pack of three, teammates Garrett Hall and Luke Nier finished right behind him in 17th and 18th places with a 17:06.8 and 17:06.9 times, respectively.
Other Tiger runners included Tyler Swartz , 46th, 17:50; Ryun Hoffert, 63rd 18:10; Alex Schrock , 76th, 18:19; and Andrew Potter , 90th, 18:36.
Tippecanoe Valley participated in the AA class but was not awarded a finish because of an incomplete team.
On the girls side, Warsaw finished in fifth place as a team with 167 points, just one point behind Northridge which scored 166.
Josefina Rastrelli brought home the Lady Tigers best time, finishing in 8th overall at 19:41.9. Teammate Wini Barnett ran a 20:30.4, which was good for 23rd place.
