Wawasee, 3, Westview 1
After a stunning first set loss, Wawasee recovered to salvage its Senior Night in a home win over the visiting Warriors.
Westview won game one 26-24, but Wawasee responded in a huge way, taking the next three 25-14, 25-11, 25-8.
Amanda Allen ignited the offense with 27 assists and seven aces, and the duo of Dylan Konieczny and Leslie Vazquez combined for 24 kills, Vazquez chipping in nine digs and four blocks. Liz Miller contributed 10 digs, Talia Kuhl had another seven digs and Amber Beer had five blocks.
“Senior night is always an emotional roller coaster,” said Wawasee head coach Jeff Phillips. “I’m so proud of this group for all they have meant to Wawasee volleyball. I will miss being in the gym with them next year. Love you guys.”
Alli McClintic and Emma Young combined for 14 aces as Wawasee’s JV rolled over Westview 25-9, 25-13. Young added 16 assists, McClintic had six kills and Abbi Burelison added four kills.
Columbia City 3, Tippecanoe Valley 0
The visiting Eagles raced to a 25-15, 25-14, 25-18 win at Valley Monday night.
Stats were light for Valley, with Macy Kirchenstien with nine assists, Brayden Baney with eight digs, Ava Smith with four kills, Avery Wagoner with two aces and Mackaylie Costello with two kills and two blocks.
The City JV also won 25-14, 25-19.
