Larry Edwin Wallen
Larry Edwin Wallen, Warsaw, passed on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, at the age of 65 as a result of a massive heart attack.
He was born on May 26, 1956, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Martha Mae (Shepherd) Wallen and Claude Edwin Wallen. He was married on Nov. 30, 1985, to Mary Pat Wallen. Though they divorced in 2017, they remained friends and always shared their dedication to each of the children.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a 1974 graduate of Warsaw High School. He truly loved the Lord and was a longtime attendee of Warsaw Community Church. He was always great with his hands and had an eye for detail with his work as a carpenter. This was a passion he maintained his entire life and shared his talent through his company Wallen Construction.
He enjoyed supporting all of his children in everything they did in their lives and being their cheerleader. He dearly loved watching and cheering on his special needs son, David, through myTEAM TRIUMPH. This organization is an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races.
He also enjoyed playing the guitar and LOVED fast cars. A memory all the kids share is going for an afternoon drive listening to his Rock & Roll “Trash Music”. More than anything in the world he loved his family and simply adored his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, reassuring smile, and most of all being a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter: Laura (Chase) Hinton, Warsaw; three sons: David Wallen, Warsaw; Ross (Mary) Wallen, Chicago, Ill.; and Mark Wallen, Indianapolis. He also left behind his two favorite grandchildren: Jude and Quinn; and his parents: Martha and Claude Wallen, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Larry’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Glenn Hall and Pastor Don Gibson. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
