Golf Results: Sept. 2
NorthWood 168, Concord 191
NorthWood locked up the Northern Lakes Conference regular season championship with a runaway win against visiting Concord at McCormick Creek.
Cybil Stillson lowered her program record for birdies in a round, sinking five of them in the nine-hole round of 34. Breanna Goss and Riley Kitson both finished at 42, putting pressure on Concord’s top three of Rayna Boessler, Madison Weaver and Ryleigh Robinson, all who finished at 46. Bella Sechrist was the fourth score for the Panthers with a 50 while Mia McEachern had a 53 for the Minutemen.
The title is the ninth in the past 10 years for the Panthers (7-0 NLC), which can win the conference outright by finishing in the top two at the NLC Championships on Sept. 11. Concord won the NLC last fall to break NorthWood’s streak.
“What an exciting night for our seniors and our program,” said NorthWood head coach Adam Yoder. “To finish 7-0 in the NLC regular season for the ninth time in 10 years is pretty special, especially since we’re the smallest school in the conference. We’re very proud of all of these girls.”
Warsaw 166, Wawasee 197, Northridge 201
Warsaw wrapped up its NLC season 6-1 and still in the hunt with a big showing at Stonehenge.
Olivia Robinson-Gay continued her torrid run of play of late with a round of 36 to lead the Tigers and the meet. Abbey Peterson had one of her finer rounds of the campaign with a 41, followed by a 44 from Marie Frazzetta and 45 from Abigail Davis. If Warsaw can win the NLC tournament on Sept. 11, it could earn a share of the conference title depending on what NorthWood does in the standings.
Wawasee (3-4) had Taylor Cripe shoot a 44 and Rylee Firestone post a 46, Delaney Delagrange with a 52 and Ayla Torres with a 55.
Northridge had Karisa Dyer shoot a 46 and Isabela Lawrence with a 49.
