SYRACUSE — Jerry Martin had his shiny orange colored 1965 Ford Ranchero entered in the car cruise-in Friday evening, Aug. 27, at Syracuse American Legion Post 223.
Martin enters automobiles in a few area car shows including the Thursday evening cruise-ins at the Essenhaus in Middlebury. He also owns a 1984 Mustang and a 2004 Mustang Mach I, one of only about 20,000 made.
The Ranchero was one of several classic cars entered in the cruise-in. There were 1967 and 2020 Corvettes, as well as an early model 1950s Corvette, and a 1962 Willys G pickup truck among others entered including a few motorcycles.
Inside the Legion post a fish dinner with fries and coleslaw was served. It was anticipated the dinners would be sold out prior to the 8 p.m. closing.
This was the second cruise-in of the year but the first one was hindered by the rainy weather in the spring. Organizers were pleased with the turnout Friday evening despite the hot and humid weather.
A 50/50 cash raffle was also held.
The Legion Riders put on the event.
