In front of 100 rowdy students, Wawasee rode the momentum to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-23 victory.
Dylan Konieczny had 16 kills and a pair of aces, Amanda Allen had 24 assists and Leslie Vazquez had 11 digs for the Warriors.
“The greatest part of this match was a student section of maybe 100 kids,” said Wawasee head coach Jeff Phillips. “Dylan Konieczny had the best match of her career and we played another sectional opponent with a lot of poise and energy. But the students and the athletes feeding off each other is what this is all about.”
Wawasee withstood Lakeland in the JV contest, 16-25, 25-19, 19-17. Abbi Burelison led the way with five kills and two blocks, Emma Young had 18 assists and three aces, and Addie Beasley added five kills. Julie Mishler and Alli McClintic had 17 combined digs.
Tippecanoe Valley 3, Goshen 0
Valley earned a home win in a rare visit from Goshen.
Valley won 25-19, 25-14, 25-19 on the strength of nine kills and 4.5 blocks from Mallory Durkes, 14 digs and six aces from Brayden Baney, 12 digs, five kills and a block from Colette Blackburn and 12 digs, seven kills and three aces from Bree Sheetz.
The JV from Akron also won 25-19, 25-21. Avery Wagoner had seven digs and three aces to pace the home side.
