Panthers Rally Past Jimmies
Staff Report
NAPPANEE – NorthWood has made a habit of playing in tight football games over the years. This one was no exception.
Trailing 6-0 at the half, NorthWood shut out its backyard rivals in the second half and scored its only touchdown when it mattered to gather a 7-6 win Friday night at Andrews Field.
Wes Yoder had the Panthers’ lone touchdown on a nine-yard run in the third quarter, which buoyed a 59-yard pass play from Kaden Lone to Ni’Tareon Tuggle. Dominic DeFreitas had the extra point for the Panthers, which CJ Kuhn blocked Jimtown’s only extra point try in the first half after Trent Daniels scored on a short rushing play in the final minute of the half.
NorthWood would stuff Jimtown on fourth down late in the fourth from its own 14 yard line to ice the victory.
Lone finished the night at 10-of-13 for 130 yards passing. Lone (43 yards) and Ethan Evers (38) were 1-2 in Panther rushing.
