Barbara Jean Johnson Mills, 68, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at her residence.
On Aug. 18, 1952, she was born in Rochester, the treasured daughter of Albert L. Sr. and Alice J. Hittle Shotts. Growing up as the second oldest, she shared her childhood with a trio of brothers, Robert, Ralph and Albert LeRoy. With great pride Barbara graduated from Mentone High School in 1970.
Answering the call of patriotism, Barbara served our country with the United States Army. She was honorably discharged on April 7, 1978. Barbara worked for Lobdell – Emery until it’s closing and was a member of the local UAW. She continued on and became a truck driving professional delivering goods from coast to coast.
Left to cherish Barb’s memory are two daughters: Stephanie Voorhees and husband Justin, of Rochester; Amanda Kelly and husband Chuck of Millcreek; three grandchildren: Alexendra Drummond, Gabriel Drummond and wife Courtney, Kirsten Root, two great-grandchildren: Hudson Drummond and Maverick Drummond, two brothers Ralph Shotts and wife Paula of Rochester; Robert Shotts and wife Jackie of Avon Park, Fla.; nieces and nephews including Amber Smallbone, Ashley Shotts, Josh Shotts and wife Chrissy, Andrew Shotts and wife Kira and their son Kale, Jonathan Shotts, Matthew Shotts; two sisters-in-law Lisa Bryant and husband Rodney of Macy, Rene and Terry Lett of Rochester and several cousins.
Preceding Barbara in death are her parents and brother Albert L. Shotts Jr.
Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard and the United States Army Honors Team at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.
