WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested last month following an alleged domestic battery incident.
Vicente Jose Castillo, 26, 3013 Inverness Point, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 11, Warsaw Police officers were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic battery incident.
Upon arrival, officers met with three people in front of the residence. The three were separated and interviewed.
A woman at the scene said she and Castillo were the ones fighting. She said the argument was verbal in nature and that they were walking in and out of the residence during the altercation. She also advised that Castillo was currently inside the residence.
An officer spoke with Castillo, who said he and the woman had been fighting in and out of the residence and said it became physical at one point. Castillo said while they were inside the residence, the woman and two other people were standing in the doorway. Castillo said as he attempted to exit the room through the doorway, they all began shoving each other. He said he eventually got past them and left the residence and the argument ended.
Another woman at the scene, who appeared to be crying, said that Castillo and the other woman were arguing in the residence. She went to see what the disturbance was about and found them pushing each other.
The woman said as she attempted to get in between them to stop the pushing, Castillo either kicked or hit her with something in the shin. She told police that four children were in the residence during the incident.
Police noted that the woman’s shin was swollen.
Castillo was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail July 11 on a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
