Claypool Man Arrested For OWI With Three Kids In Vehicle

SILVER LAKE — A Claypool man was arrested after driving under the influence with three minors in his vehicle.
Doby Gonzales, 48, 7427 S. Cauldwell 24, Claypool, is charged with operating a vehicle with a specified amount of alcohol with a passenger under 18 years of age, a level 6 felony; and driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor.
On July 11, a Silver Lake Police officer checked the license plate of a vehicle. He learned the registered owner’s driver’s license status was suspended prior, resulting in the officer pulling the driver over.
The officer identified the driver as Gonzales and also noticed three passengers under the age of 18 in the vehicle. According to court documents, when the officer asked for his license, Gonzales said he didn’t have one and was trying to get it back. While speaking with Gonzales, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle. When the officer asked how much he had to drink that day, Gonzales said about a six-pack.
Gonzales’ BAC was 0.17. He has two prior convictions for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and was previously convicted for driving while suspended.
Gonzales has already been arrested and released on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
