Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 7:47 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, West SR 14, east of South CR 675W, Silver Lake. Driver: Amy J. Prater, 48, South CR 925W, Akron. Prater was traveling west on West SR 14 when a dog entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
- 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, North CR 800W, south of West CR 750N, Etna Green. Driver: Timothy I. Prater, 21, Princeton Drive, Kokomo. A passenger in Prater’s vehicle, Evan B. Justice, 16, Warsaw, said Prater was traveling south on CR 800W when the vehicle partially left the roadway due to steering failure. The vehicle then overcorrected and left the roadway, rolling onto its top. Justice complained of back pain and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Prater complained of leg, back, neck and hip pain and was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Damage up to $50,000.
- 6:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, East SR 14, east of South CR 100E, Silver Lake. Driver: Troy J. Golding, 20, County Road 3, Nappanee. Golding was traveling west on SR 14 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
- 11:43 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, North Fox Farm Road, east of West US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Edward E. Thomas, 41, East CR 450N, Warsaw. Thomas was traveling east on US 30 when a pickup truck disregarded a stop sign at Fox Farm Road and US 30. As Thomas attempted to swerve to avoid a collision, the black pickup truck hit his vehicle’s trailer. The pickup truck left the scene of the accident. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $2,500.
- 9:58 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, North CR 500E, south of East CR 800N, Syracuse. Driver: Christina G. Sausaman, 49, North CR 500E, Syracuse. Sausaman was traveling south on North CR 500E when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
- 3:13 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, West Old Road 30, west of North CR 600W, Warsaw. Driver: Maira I. Marroquin Roca, 29, East CR 200N, Warsaw. Marroquin Roca was traveling west on West Old Road 30 when a turkey entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
- 9:58 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, North CR 150E, south of East CR 350N, Warsaw. Driver: Earl T. Frantz, 32, EMS C27B Lane, Warsaw. Frantz was traveling south on North CR 150E when a deer entered the roadway. His vehicle then left the roadway and hit an REMC utility pole. The utility pole broke. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, North Cook Street, east of East Clark Street, Warsaw. Driver: Lorena B. Lopez, 41, East CR 200N 110, Warsaw. Lopez was backing her vehicle from a driveway when she hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 1:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, North Park Avenue, near East Clark Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jami A. Heck, 38, South CR 300E, North Manchester; and Allison M. Gonzalez, 18, East Kenway Drive, Warsaw. Heck was traveling west on East Clark Street when she stopped at a stop sign. Upon entering the intersection, Heck’s vehicle hit Gonzalez’s vehicle, causing Gonzalez’s vehicle to roll onto its passenger side. Gonzalez complained of neck pain due to the accident. Gonzalez and four passengers in her vehicle were all taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for medical evaluation. Abigail Gonzalez, 16, Warsaw, complained of hip and upper leg pain. Lauren S. Cordier, 18, Warsaw, complained of back pain. Skylar Wright, 17, Warsaw, complained of back pain. Branigan N. Truex, 17, Leesburg, complained of shoulder and upper arm. Damage up to $25,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 1:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, Pierceton Road, west of Packerton Road, Winona Lake. Driver: Elizabeth Wiederhold, 29, South Elaine Drive, Warsaw. Wiederhold was traveling east on Pierceton Road when a tree fell across the roadway and hit her vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
