ATWOOD — One person was transported by helicopter to the hospital following a wreck north of Atwood.
The accident happened about 6:20 p.m. Sunday evening, Aug. 8, along CR 800W north of CR 640N.
Two people, both male, were injured in the crash, confirmed a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer. One was transported by ambulance and another by Samaritan helicopter, which landed in a field near the accident.
It took first responders over an hour to free the latter from the wreckage of the Ranger Materials truck the two were in. The vehicle was flipped off the road into a cornfield.
According to the officer, the vehicle “left the side of the roadway for an unknown reason. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle overturned on the east side of the roadway.”
Along with the sheriff’s office and Samaritan helicopter, other entities that responded were the Atwood Fire Department, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and Lutheran EMS.
