Thomas E. ‘Tom’ Prickett – UPDATED
Well, I made the paper again, although this page would not have been my first choice. Anyway I had a good run that ended on Aug. 4, 2021. Mary Ellen was there with me, and that made it peaceful and reassuring.
I was born on Dec. 8, 1934, in Nappanee to Ruth and Howard Prickett. As a “wet behind the ears” kid, I joined the Army to serve Uncle Sam in Italy. In my first adult life, I was blessed with the energy to take on owning and operating Tom Socks Sportwear in Syracuse, as well as a ready-made family with Kirk and Kris Ellen. Eight years later, Tommy and Mary Ellen rounded out the family.
With “all in” energy, I was very active in Rotary Club and the chamber of commerce and served as president of the town board. I was also active as well in many activities and organizations supporting my beloved Lake Wawasee. With great pride, I was commodore of the Flotilla and a lifelong member of the Scottish Rite as a 32nd degree Mason.
In my second life, after developing my sales skills and further feeding my entrepreneurial spirit, I entered the real estate profession. I was proud to serve my clients, many of whom became friends, for 43 years and was honored by NAR as a Realtor Emeritus.
Having served on everything you could imagine and receiving every award imaginable, my greatest achievement was winning the hand of my beloved wife, Vicki. Together we shared operating Prickett’s Properties and a beautiful life together. The heavenly gates were propped open by my parents, Ruth and Howard, Tom Socks, Bill Fowler, Paul and Marilyn Moore, Dr. Ed Vogus and hundreds more. But I could not take my eyes off Vicki. I am at peace now! See ya!
Please visit with Mary Ellen and my beloved granddaughters, Zoe and Lola, and great grandson Dallas from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. A graveside service will be held at Syracuse Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Hope Pet Rescue, 72555 CR 29, Syracuse, IN 46567, or WACF (Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation) , 11586 SR 13, Syracuse, IN 46567.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives and you for being part of mine. Go Big Red!
