Ivan Richard “Dick” Workman, 93, Syracuse, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born July 24, 1928, in Syracuse, to Chester O. and Ruby Eleanor (Moats) Workman.
He was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1946 from Syracuse High School. He was married Sept. 21, 1946, in Syracuse, to Donna Lee Galloway who survives. He retired as a groundskeeper for Wawasee High School after 20 years and was a farmer for more than 50 years. He formerly worked at Syracuse Rubber Company, Commodore Homes in Syracuse, Orlie Brown Farms, and was a bus driver for Syracuse and Wawasee Schools for 30 years.
He was a member of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel and the Hex Grange both in Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Workman of Syracuse; and two sons: Mark (Kathy) Workman of Warsaw; David (Julia) Workman of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Richard Lee Workman, sister, Bonnie Workman, two brothers: Max and Robert (infant) Workman, and step-grandson, Kirk Voorheis.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. No services will be held. Private family burial will be in the McClintic Cemetery at a later date. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
