Warsaw Third At Penn Invite
Warsaw opened its 2021 girls golf season with a third-place result at the Penn Invite at Knollwood East.
The Tigers were a stroke under 400 at 399, led by a 95 from Marie Frazzetta, inching into the top 10 overall.
Delaney Byron was next for Warsaw at 100, Abbey Peterson at 101, Abigail Davis at 103 and Olivia Robinson-Gay also at 103.
Penn won on its home course with a 332, led by the medalist 72 from Delaney Wade. Mishawaka Marian was the runner-up at 362.
Also in the field were Northern Lakes Conference foes Concord (408), Northridge (463) and Mishawaka (473) among the 10-team field.
Vikings Third At Pretty Lake
Also placing third in its first action of the season was Tippecanoe Valley, shooting a 380 at the Plymouth Invite.
Madelyn Weaver was fifth overall with a round of 89 to pace the Vikings, with Kaydence Mellott and Molly Moriarty both shooting 96 and Lily Ault posting 99 to round out the scoring.
John Glenn won the tournament with a 375, holding off Plymouth by three strokes atop the list. Glenn’s Megan Kobelt was the individual medalist with a 77, seven strokes better than the field.
Warsaw’s JV were on hand and posted a 477. Clare Deeter had a 111 and Tessa Graney a 112 among Warsaw’s effort.
Wawasee Ninth At Huntington
Wawasee also opened its campaign on the road, competing at the Huntington North Invite at Maple Grove.
Full results for the Warriors were not reported, but senior Taylor Cripe led the team with an 89.
