Shelly Yvonne Garret, 52, Peru, and formerly of Warsaw, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born Oct. 1, 1968, in Warsaw, to Arlene Yvonne (Munson) Ryan and Dean Alden Ryan.
Shelly was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where she was a 1987 graduate of Wawasee High School in Syracuse. She attended St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, and earned her nursing degree in 1990. She had a caring heart and nursing was her calling. She was kind and caring to the residents of Warsaw Meadows Care Center in Warsaw for the 19 years she served as a registered nurse. Then for a number of years she worked at Life Care Center in Rochester, prior to having to retire early due to ill health. Shelly was always a very charismatic person, a warm and caring individual with a great sense of humor. Most of all she dearly loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be forever loved and remembered by her family the many friends she leaves behind.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Courtney Bowling, Warsaw; Holly Bowling, Peru; and her grandson: Benjamin Whitaker, Peru. Also surviving is her mother: Arlene Yvonne Ryan, North Webster; and her sister: Deana (Jim) Pancake, North Webster. She was preceded in death by her father, Dean Ryan in 2007.
Shelly’s life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Craig Fritchley. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery of Warsaw.
