Judy Ann Frederick — UPDATED
Judy Ann (Wittwer) Frederick, 73, Huntington, passed away tragically in a car accident Jan. 29, 2021, in Huntington County. Judy was born Jan. 15, 1948, in Wabash, to John and Marie R. (Metzger) Wittwer. At the age of eighteen, Judy’s father passed away, and Judy’s mother married Jean P. Ireland a few years later.
After graduating from Manchester High School in 1966, Judy married Thomas Frederick Dec. 22, 1967. The two were wed for forty-eight years before Thomas passed away on July 17, 2015. During their time together, they had two children, Chris and Jennifer Frederick.
For twenty-three years, Judy worked for Indiana Lawrence Bank in the Trust Department in North Manchester, before retiring in 2011. After Thomas died, Judy was fortunate to find companionship again with Toby L. Hughes, who later passed away Feb. 9, 2019.
A selfless caregiver, Judy was the definition of a strong Christian woman. Her sweet and thoughtful personality made it easy for people to feel comfortable around her. She was a loving mother, and many people even referred to her as their second mother. At the center of Judy’s life was religion. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Huntington. She enjoyed being a woman of God and relished in worshiping and being a part of church activities. She also loved reading, crafting, her dogs and spending time with family.
The loving memory of Judy Ann Frederick will be forever cherished by her son, Chris Frederick, Huntington; daughter, Jennifer (Wayne) Smuda, Pierz, Minn.; brothers, Dan (Alice) Wittwer, New Mexico; and John (Juliet) Wittwer, Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Sheila Frederick, North Manchester; brother-in-law, Steve (Betsy) Frederick, Mishawaka; and two grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, John Wittwer and Marie R. (Metzger) Wittwer-Ireland; stepfather, Jean Ireland; husband, Thomas Frederick; companion, Toby L. Hughes; and brother-in-law, Randall L. Frederick.
Burial will be held at 1 p.m. August 6, at Lakeview Cemetery, Myrtle Glen Drive, Silver Lake.
