Pierceton Days Festival Is Friday, Saturday

PIERCETON — The Pierceton Days Festival is Friday and Saturday, with the theme “A Night at the Movies.”
The festival kicks off in Brower Park with vendors and bounce houses opening at 3 p.m. Friday. There will be barbecue, ice cream, lemonade shake-ups and more. Craft vendors and independent consultants will also be set up.
The Pierceton Days Festival Chili Cook-off is at 6 p.m. Cups of chili will be prepared by public officials and businesses.
Each cup purchased will represent a vote with the winner having bragging rights for the year. All proceeds go toward continuing the festival for years to come.
The Pierceton Days Festival Car & Truck Show will take over SR 13 Friday afternoon and into the evening. Registration for the Car & Truck Show starts at 1 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel. Awards will be presented at 8:30 p.m. for the top 10 of each registered category with cash prizes being given for Best of Show and People’s Choice.
On the main stage Friday evening, acoustic rock duo Beez and the Rocker will begin performing at 4 p.m. The band, Trainwreck, will take the stage from 8-10 p.m. with their acoustic rock, classic blues and country music. The KC Dance Company with its Inclognito Cloggers will perform in the downtown area at 6:30 p.m.
At 8 a.m. Saturday, the Vintage Motorcycle Show takes over downtown Pierceton. Motorcycles of all makes and models will be on display throughout the day. Awards will be given away by class along with Best of Show.
Starting at 9 a.m. outside of the Senior Center, the Pierceton Fire Department will host its annual Cornhole Tournament. Registration is available the day of with the cost being $20 per team.
At 11 a.m., the American Red Cross will be on-site at Brower Park hosting a blood drive.
Free kids activities will be available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the big white tent. There will be a face painter, caricature artist and balloon artist. In front of Lake City Bank, a Big Wheels contest will take place. Awards will be given to those with the fastest times in the different age categories, including one for adults.
The parade, with a theme of “A Night at the Movies,” starts at 3 p.m. and runs along SR 13. The Menzie-Reece American Legion Post 258 will lead the parade by presenting the flags. Following that will be the town’s public servants and the Pierceton “Mayor.”
Awards for the parade will be given away at the main stage at 4:30 p.m.
Brett Hall will take the main stage at 5 p.m., performing country music. The band, Almost Gone, will play classic rock and country starting at 7:30 p.m. The Bar 13 Beer Tent will also be open.
At 10 p.m. will be the fireworks show in Brower Park.
