Glenda Sue Stone, 73, Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 28, 2021, after a long bout of respiratory health issues.
She was born Feb. 28, 1948, in Matewan, W. Va., to John Frank and Zanna (Bragg) Gillum.
Glenda moved to North Manchester in 1978. She was a long-time employee of Peabody Retirement Community as a QNA, retiring in 1999. Glenda married William “Bo” Stone on Oct. 8, 1967, in Lincoln Park, Mich.; he died May 6, 1998. Glenda was warm-spirited and committed in her belief of God, and generous beyond words. She had a fondness for music and travel, especially the music of George Jones. When she smiled there was a twinkle in her eye and a crook in her grin. Glenda had many hobbies, and was a gifted interior decorator and seamstress. She always looked forward to the Christmas holiday and was well-known for her Shar-Pei dogs and outdoor holiday decorations. Glenda relocated to the Southport area of Indianapolis in 2018.
She is survived by her son, Brandon (Michelle) Stone of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Bobbi (Stone) Baldridge of Warsaw; five grandchildren: Kayla Stone of Altoona, Penn.; Shelby Stone of Indianapolis; Trevor Stone of Pierceton; William Stone and Elizabeth Stone, both of Indianapolis; two brothers, Jack (Judy) Gillum of Dandridge, Tenn.; and Jimmy (Norma) Gillum of Sandy Beach.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, John W. Stone II, two brothers, Billy Gillum, and Johnny Mack Gillum, and two sisters, Patricia Kirk, and Sena Setser.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Pastor John Cook officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call noon-2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
