Donabelle Jean Hoffman
Donabelle Jean Hoffman, 99, Akron, passed at 3:48 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2021, at Timbercrest Health Care of North Manchester.
Donabelle was born on April 13, 1922 in Nappanee, to the late Paul and Alma (Buss) Sheets. She married on April 13, 1942 in Nappanee, to E. Wayne Hoffman, who passed on March 18, 2008.
Donabelle was a homemaker and proudly raised her family. She also worked in earlier years for Dan Leininger and Sons until the store closed. She was a longtime member of the Silver Creek Church of God. She had been a seamstress doing all kinds of alterations and making three bridal gowns. She was honored in 2018 as the Akron 4th of July Parade Marshall for being Akron’s oldest living resident. She and her husband enjoyed camping and they spent 20 years together at Barr Lake.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Hartz, Culver; and Connie and husband Dennis Helvey, South Whitley; six grandchildren: Jeff Hartz, Troy Hartz, Todd Helvey, Talisha Herendeen, Trina Semler and Trista Brubaker; 12 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
Donabelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great granddaughter Aleea Dawn Brubaker, son-in-law Hugh Hartz, brother Max Sheets, and an infant sister.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 23, at Silver Creek Church of God, Silver Lake, with Pastor Thomas Craig officiating.
The interment will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake, next to her husband.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, July 23, at Silver Creek Church of God, Silver Lake.
