Last Day For Summer Reading Prizes Coming Up At Milford Public Library

MILFORD — The Summer Reading Program at Milford Public Library is coming to an end, remember to turn in any minutes by Saturday, July 24 to receive prizes. There has been an amazing turnout this year with 126 participants in the children’s program and 30 in the teens. Participants have read over 75,000 minutes and won tons of prizes. Patron participation makes it possible for the library to offer more and more programs, the staff is tickled with this year’s success and excited for you to join them for next year’s summer reading program.
Summer Reading Grand Finale Pizza Party
Celebrate another successful summer reading program and join the library staff for a lunch of tasty pizza at noon, Wednesday, July 21, in the library’s parking lot. Bring your picnic ticket and exchange it for a slice of pizza. Bring a blanket and picnic under a shade tree or park your vehicle in the and the staff will bring your order to you.
Virtual Story Time – Asia
Join the Milford Library Staff on Zoom at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23 as Miss Samantha reads tales about Asia. The whole family is welcome for summer Story Time. Each family who attends the Zoom session will receive a copy of “Stargazing” by Jen Wang, while supplies last. A Young Hoosier Book Award, 2021-2022 nominee. Follow the story of unlikely best friends from the same Chinese-American suburb. Jealousy, social expectations, and illness test their friendship. Pick up a free book at the library after Story Time. The staff is excited for you to join them on Zoom. Registration is required to receive free books. No library card needed. This is the final session for summer family story time. Join the staff when the fall story time begins in September.
Asia Activity Packet
Starting Monday, reading program participants can pick up this week’s Asian-themed activity packet. This week’s treat is tasty Maruta candy, which is a popular Japanese candy similar to American rock candy. The Asian packets include: Asian cuisine recipes, coloring pages, a 3-D panda craft, a paper lantern you can decorate yourself, a dragon puppet, your very own set of chopsticks, and much more. Pick up children’s preschool and K-5 packets at the children’s circulation desk. Complete five activities and enter a drawing to win a prize. Teen packets are available in the adult department and have a snack in addition to a project. Once completed, they may enter a drawing for a gift card.

Free Lunches In Parking Lot
Lunches are available for pick up in the library parking lot 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday and Thursday through Aug. 5. On Mondays, you will receive breakfast and lunch for three days and Thursday’s pickup will contain breakfast and lunch for two days. The lunches are pre-bagged and pre-packaged and provide nutritious food for children. The Wawasee School Corporation provides lunches. This is a free program for anyone 18 and younger. No library card or registration required.
‘Where’s Edgar Allen Gnome?’ Week 7
Edgar Allen Gnome has had so much fun exploring Milford. It looks like he’s found a very comfy place to end his journey and hang out with his best friends. This is the final week for this contest drawing. Submit your guess of where he is to [email protected] or in person at a circulation desk by 6 p.m. Fridays. The winner will be announced on Mondays. The staff appreciates all who have participated in this contest. They had so much fun putting it together and congratulations to all of the winners. Below are the places Edgar has visited in Milford.
