ROCHESTER — A Rochester man was recently arrested after allegedly molesting a child 25 times.
Jeffrey Clark Craft, 51, 934 Jefferson St., Rochester, is charged with child molesting, a level 1 felony; and child molesting, a level 4 felony.
On June 18, a Fulton County Sheriff’s Office detective received a report of sexual abuse from the Indiana Department of Child Services. The report states a child was sexually abused on multiple occasions by Craft.
On June 22, the child was interviewed at a child advocacy center about what occurred. According to court documents, the child said Craft first inappropriately touched them in mid-April. The last time the touching occurred was mid-June.
When the touching first happened, the child said they were staying in a hotel and that they had to sleep in the same bed as Craft. While laying in the bed, Craft inappropriately touched the child. During the interview, the child also recalled multiple other instances where Craft inappropriately touched them.
The child said every time Craft would touch them, they would use an excuse to get away from him. They said at first they thought Craft’s actions were okay since they were getting attention and he would buy them stuff afterward.
When asked how many times the molestations happened since April, the child estimated 25.
On June 24, Craft was interviewed at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office about the allegations. When questioned about what happened in a hotel, Craft denied the allegations. He also denied the rest of the allegations and said the child was lying about what happened.
Craft said he did give the child massages.
Craft was booked in the Fulton County Jail on July 8, with a $75,000 surety bond.
