Theodore J. Hartstein
Theodore J. Hartstein, 90 years of age, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021.
He was born on Jan. 13, 1931, in South Bend to the late William F. and Pearl (Hoover) Hartstein. Theodore retired from Miles/Bayer Laboratories in 1993 where he worked making medical Instruments.
On June 16, 1951, in Mishawaka, he was united in marriage to Joan Bentley. They just celebrated 70 years together.
Theodore is survived by his wife, Joan, along with their children, Michael (Deborah) Hartstein, Corinth, Maine, Becky (Tom) Melton, Rochester, Barbara (Jim) Felten, Nashville, Tenn., John (Kami) Hartstein, Granger, and Beth (Kevin) Lockwood, Bremen; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dick Hartstein.
Theodore was preceded in death by his sisters, Cleo Boyer, Betty Nadolny, Clarice Young, Gayle Paksi and Wilma Miner; and brothers Alfred Hartstein, Walter Hartstein, William Hartstein and Donald Hartstein.
Theodore was a faithful member of Twin City Baptist Church in Mishawaka for more than 50 years where he served as a deacon, usher, Sunday School teacher and bus driver. He also attended Hillcrest Baptist Church until he and Joan moved to Rochester in 2014.
He enjoyed camping and fishing and loved cheering on the football team at Penn High School. He was an avid cookie lover, but most of all he was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
