DEWART LAKE — Participants and observers alike enjoyed sunny skies and 80 degree temperatures for the 2021 Dewart Lake Protective Association Flotilla held Saturday, July 3.
“The 11 boats made it difficult for judges from Lafayette and Delphi to make choices,” said organizer Dave Smith; nevertheless, the Burke family nabbed the first place prize with the Austin and Miller families earning second and third respectively.
The theme for this year’s flotilla was “Mermaids, Octopuses and Whales, Oh My!” And after starting at 2 p.m. from the public access at EMS D24 Lane, the floaters made their way along the shore in a counterclockwise fashion. The tour took roughly 90 minutes.
“We had a good turnout with a lot of people around the lake,” Smith said. “Everybody had a good time.”
