County’s COVID-19 Case Count Collapsing

WARSAW — Kosciusko County’s COVID-19 case count has been decreasing rapidly since April of this year.
From June 1 to July 3, the county reported only 79 new COVID-19 cases. In November 2020 alone, Kosciusko saw 2,569 cases.
Last week, from June 27 to July 3, the county reported eight new cases of COVID-19 – the first time a single-digit case count has been reported in Kosciusko County since April 2020.
According to Kosciusko County Health Department Communicable Disease Nurse Teresa Reed, as of June 25, the county has identified 29 breakthrough COVID-19 cases in Kosciusko County. Those are cases identified in individuals who are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
In Kosciusko County, 24,948 people have been fully vaccinated.
The state’s vaccination rate is now 42%. Kosciusko County’s rate is 31.6 percent.
The vaccination rate for the entire country is 48%, according to various sources.
