Matthew Lucas — UPDATED
Matthew Alan Lucas, 42, and a lifetime Warsaw resident, heartbreakingly passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, just before 10 a.m. in his Warsaw residence.
The son of the late David Lucas and Diane (Grindle) Burr, he was born in Warsaw on Jan. 13, 1978. Matt, as most knew him, attended grade school in Atwood and graduated from Warsaw Community High School. He is remembered as laid back, loyal and kind-hearted.
Matt loved music of all kinds and liked working on cars which was fitting as he served in the United States Army as a heavy wheeled mechanic, serving mostly in Landstuhl, Germany. He enjoyed fishing and golf (which he was quite good at) and liked watching sports – especially the Chicago Bears. He attended Harrison Center Church with his family and was saved in faith through Jesus Christ.
More than anything, Matt loved his children: son, Jacob Lucas of Bourbon (and his mother, Jennifer) and daughter, Makia Lucas of Warsaw (and her mother, Jerika) – all of whom survive. Also surviving is his mother, Diane (husband, Bill) Burr of Warsaw; brother, Michael (wife, Stacey) Lucas of Rineyville, Ky.; sister, Cassie (fiancé, Jason Goble) Burr of Slidell, La.; two nephews: Chase and Aaron; niece, Emma; aunt, Sue Ann Barker; uncle, Kim (wife, Linda) Grindle and cousins, Rob Grindle, Lisa (husband, Blaine) Goon and Missy Kid. He was preceded in passing by his father, David Lucas and his grandparents.
A Life Celebration will be held for Diane Burr, age 67 of Warsaw who passed away Dec. 28, 2020, and her son, Matthew Lucas age 42 of Warsaw who passed Dec. 15, 2020. The service will take place at Harrison Center Church, 965 South 800 West, Etna Green, Saturday, July 10. Gathering will be from 1 to 5 pm. Titus Funeral Home is assisting the family
