Community Church Service Part Of Akron 4th Events
News Release
AKRON — The public is welcome to gather for a community church service being held as part of Akron’s 4th of July events.
The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 4, at Pike Memorial Park. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
Akron United Methodist Church, Akron Church of God, Casa de Renovacion and Omega Church have partnered to put on the service.
The theme of the service is “Together, We Rise.” The hearts behind the theme is honoring the past and reflecting on the adversity the 47 Akron settlers faced 185 years ago as they formed the community and the adversity the community has faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Akron community has displayed a “Stronger Together” culture from its roots. This service will honor all who were lost over the last 16 months in the community and will also inspire the community to start again stronger than ever with the pioneering spirit of the original settlers.
The service will include a welcome, worship music, a historical lesson about Akron, an offering for local churches and the “Together, We Rise” message. It culminates with the planting of a tree in the park to commemorate commitment to remember the day of coming back together.
