Marjorie Louise Hyer, 103 years, two months and 22 days passed away June 24, 2021, at her home in Aiken, S.C.
Marjorie (Marge) Reed was born to Orie E. and Celina Maude (Beck) Reed on April 2, 1918, in Bourbon, where she and her three sisters grew up. After graduating from Bourbon High School, Marge attended Ball State University to study education and taught elementary school in Knox. In 1940 she married Floyd E. Hyer and they lived happily together, raising two daughters in Indianapolis.
Upon retirement they relocated to Venice, Fla. In each hometown, church fellowship and worship were an important part of their lives. They were members of Broad Ripple Methodist Church in Indianapolis and First Baptist Church in Venice, Fla. At the time of her passing Marge enjoyed the fellowship of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Aiken.
Family was a priority for Marge. She loved her life as a homemaker, mother and excellent cook. She had a life-long interest in art, especially watercolor, and took art lessons even into her 90’s. Her greatest joy over the years, was spending weekends with extended family at the family cottage on Lake Manitou.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, both of Aiken: Emily Hooker and husband Tom, Anita Dibrell and husband Larry. Other survivors include seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great -grandchild.
Arrangements are with Good Family Funeral Home.
