Ganyl Jeanette Linn
Gaynl Jeanette (Meadows) Linn,80, of rural South Whitley, died peacefully at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
She was born Nov. 19, 1940, in South Whitley, a daughter of the late Oral and Chelsie R. (Wilson) Meadows.
She grew up in South Whitley and graduated from South Whitley High School. She continued her education at International Business College in Fort Wayne.
On April 23, 1960, she married Ted Linn. They have always made their home in the South Whitley area.
For 32 years, she was the deputy clerk for the Town of South Whitley, retiring in 2005.
An active member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, she also sang in the choir.
An avid gardener, she enjoyed tending her annual vegetable garden. Fond of horses, she rode and maintained several over the years, with her favorite being a gentle quarter horse named Coke. In the warm weather months, she and her husband would take motorcycle excursions throughout the area.
In the quiet times at home, she liked to read.
Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Ted; sons, Bradley S. (Nancy) Linn, Pierceton and Linc T. (Laura) Linn, Columbia City; grandchildren: Timothy (Molly) Linn, Tyler Linn, Tristan Linn, Kimberly North, Tarah (Joshua) Ihrie, Dustin Sommers, and Stephen (Myia) Sommers; great-grandchildren: Karmon Linn, Aiden Buchanan, Bentley Linn, Argo Ihrie, Maxx Ihrie, Eila Ihrie, Navy Ihrie, Randy Horn, Scarlet Sommers, Oliver Andrews, Milo Linn and Charly Brineman; a sister, Lois Foellinger, Columbia City and a brother, David Meadows, South Whitley.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Karen Lancaster, and an infant sister, Sue Ann Meadows.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Burial is at the South Whitley Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. until the service Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Oak Grove United Methodist Church or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
