Lois ‘Jeanie’ Roahrig
Lois “Jeanie” Roahrig, 87, Plymouth, passed away at home in the care of her family and hospice June 21, 2021.
Jeanie was born Sept. 17, 1933, at Bremen, to Walter Ray and Elva Coral (Berkeypile) Heckaman and had been a lifetime resident of the area. In 1952 she graduated from Bourbon High School and soon after met the love of her life Morris “Jake” Roahrig and they were married at her parent’s home on Aug. 9, 1953.
She worked as a farmer, homemaker and had worked at Young Door Company for 24 1/2 years and then Jeld Wen for 5 years. She loved to mow grass and work in the yard, and spending time with family and friends. She and Jake spent 18 years during winter months in Sebring, Florida, then retiring at her son’s and grandson’s home in Plymouth.
Those who are going to remember her smile are her husband, children: Debbie and Patrick Devine of Charlotte, N.C.; Victor Roahrig of Plymouth; Roger Roahrig of Plymouth; and Neal and Joyce Roahrig of Lebanon. She was further blessed with thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and sisters: Bonnie Craig of Nappanee; Joyce Overmyer of Bourbon; and brother, Le Roy “Pealy” Heckaman of Bourbon. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Faye King, Helen Montgomery and brother Roscoe “Pete” Heckaman.
The family will receive friends and family from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, IN 46504.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kindred Hospice, 1476 W. 18th St. Rochester, IN 46975 in her memory. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for the great care she received.
