Carlton ‘Jay’ Woodruff
Carlton “Jay” Woodruff, 81, Warsaw, went to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at Duke Memorial Hospital in Peru. He was born on Jan. 7, 1939 in Summitville, the son of Phyllis Ault (Fran) Denny and Russell Woodruff. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rex Woodruff.
Jay married the love of his life and school sweetheart, Donna Coy on June 30, 1957.
Jay worked at Endicott and Korth Furniture, both in Warsaw. He was a part owner of Conley Oil and later, he and Donna owned and ran Frank & Jerry’s Market in Mentone for 20 years. Jay was known for his ham salad that was a favorite of many.
He was a member of Pathway Church in Warsaw. Jay loved the Lord and shared his faith whenever possible. He enjoyed golf, playing games, horses and having fun. Jay never knew a stranger and loved to laugh. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. He was fearless with his love.
Jay is survived by his wife, Donna; two children, Michael Jay (Deb) Woodruff of St. Charles, Mo.; Tina (Dan) Warren of Warsaw; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Dale Woodruff of Swansea, S.C.
A celebration of life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Pathway Church, Warsaw. Jay’s grandchildren, Elissa Dodge and Josh Warren, are officiating the service. Visitation with the family will be from 9 to 11 a.m.
