Scam Involves Using Names Of Specfic Police Officers
Staff Report
WARSAW – The Warsaw Police Department is warning of a scam in which callers are contacting people and representing the police department.
While scams are common, police learned Wednesday that here is one in which they are using the names of local officers.
“We would never ask you for financial information over the phone,” police said in a statement shared on the city’s Facebook page.
They also offer this advice: “If an officer says he is trying to contact you and you are suspicious, tell him you will call in to dispatch and have the call forwarded to his phone.”
The dispatch number is (574) 372-9511.
