INDIANAPOLIS – Lakeland’s Keirstin Roose may have ended her high school season at the Jimtown Sectional, but the stud shortstop still has a stage to perform.
Roose is among the District 2 stars chosen to compete in the North-South All-Star softball showcase. The two-game series, which will be played this Saturday, June 19, at Decatur Central High School, has the North comprised from two districts and the South from three.
Roose is also one of five finalists for Miss Softball, joining Lake Central’s Peyton Pepkowski, Decatur Central’s Dylan Cravens, New Palestine’s Sam Booe and Bedford North Lawrence’s Sarah Stone. Voting for the award will take place after the first All-Star game by a panel of coaches and announced before the start of the second game.
Coach of the Year candidates include Lake Central’s Jeff Sherman – a Warsaw grad – and South Bend Clay’s Katie Rodriguez among five finalists. Sherman and Rodriguez, along with Norwell’s Herb Bergman, will coach the North team this weekend.
Joining Roose on the All-Star roster from District 2 are Northridge’s Madison Wienert, Penn’s Addy Kois and Maddie Calvin, Whitko’s Gus Garr, LaVille’s Allison Medors and Churubusco’s Mariah Hosted. Joining the North from District 1 are state champions Mackenzie Walker and Hailey Gotshall of Pioneer.
