WARSAW — Raise the Dough considers this year a “sweet success” for many reasons – the first being the $5,902 that was raised in the name of adoption.
Raise the Dough visited and spoke to 70 local businesses, sharing the “support adoption” message and added 33 families who generously made a gift to support adoption. The social media buzz from the community was a reminder that this mission is important, it matters and people care. The Kosciusko County Community is strong and supportive.
In 2014, on National Doughnut Day, there was a local fundraiser for a family adopting and in 2015, the adoption funding organization Raise the Dough (RTD) was born. The non-profit organization celebrates the “sweet” day by sharing doughnuts and the sweet story of adoption.
Raise the Dough’s mission is to raise funds for adoption because no child should be without a parent. This year, National Doughnut Day was a “sweet success.” Many questions were raised about why the event was not an in-person celebration. This year, they wanted to take the adoption support message to community members and invite those outside of Kosciusko County to do the same.
On June 4, Raise the Dough celebrated its 7th Annual National Doughnut Day by blitzing the Warsaw and Winona Lake communities, visiting 70 businesses, and sharing the joy of supporting adoption. They brought doughnuts and dropped off postcards inviting everyone to listen to the organization’s story and to consider becoming one of the families supporting adoption with a donation. The team spent time praying over the local businesses and celebrating not only domestic and international adoption but also the beautiful metaphor of being adopted into the family of God and loved unconditionally.
The ask was simple – Buy. Give. Share. Buy a doughnut and celebrate adoption. Give a gift to Raise the Dough in order to specifically bless the families who are raising funds. Lastly, share the story so that others can partner with Raise the Dough on mission to financially partner with families who are adopting, and to ultimately show them love.
Raise the Dough would like to thank the Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce for hosting “Doughnut Central” as the RTD team prepared to make their doughnut drop-offs. They even helped drop off doughnuts around town which was a huge help.
