Bruce Allen Mock, Warsaw, passed away surrounded by his family at 12:39 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021, at his residence at the age of 68.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1952, in Mishawaka. He was one of five children born to Lorraine (Sherman) Mock-Arbuckle and Clair Jay Mock. On Aug. 21, 1993, he was married to Diana Sue Welch. They shared the next 27 years together before he passed away.
Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Marines on Dec. 27, 1972, and proudly served until his honorable discharge as a sergeant on Dec. 17, 1974. He loved being a Marine, so he decided to immediately re-enlist and served until he was discharged Dec. 14, 1977.
While in the Marines, he worked as an administrative clerk for the general. He was an expert rifleman and loved guns and anything to do with the safe use of firearms. He especially enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping whenever he could.
Bruce was great with his hands and worked for Whites Plumbing from 1972-1989 and Deco Heating from 1989-2004 and at CTB (Chore Time Brock) in Milford from 2004 -2019. He had a heart for helping others and would lend a helping hand whenever he was able to. Those who knew Bruce knew he was a man who was tough as nails and was “black and white” with his opinion. No guessing or tip-toeing with what was on his mind.
He simply just loved meeting people, always wanted something better for others and was never shy about evangelizing to others about his faith and love for his Lord and Savior. He was a longtime member of Open Bible Baptist Church in Warsaw where he enjoyed a good sermon, the friendships of his church family and especially his friendship and respect for Pastor Sam. Bruce dearly loved his family, and he especially enjoyed being a grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren. He was one of a kind and the whole world to his family who will forever love and remember him always.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diana Sue Mock, Warsaw; two sons, Tyson (Cathy) Mock, Nappanee, and Michael Mock (fiancee Alysa Miller), Nappanee; stepson Robert (Pepper) Bell, Terre Haute; daughter April (Chett) Nelson, Goshen; and two stepdaughters, Trisha Ruiz, Syracuse, and Shannon (John) Francis, Lafayette.
He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his mother, Lorraine Mock-Arbuckle, Goshen; and two sisters, Dottie (Eric) Schang, Leesburg, and Melinda Elliott-Mock, Syracuse.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister Angela Mock; and his granddaughter, Chelsea Borck.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Bruce’s life will be celebrated immediately after the visitation at 6 p.m. at the funeral home and be officiated by Pastor Sam Carns. Bruce will be laid to rest at Marion National Cemetery in Marion.
Memorial donations may be directed to Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice, P.O. 1196, Warsaw, Indiana 46581, and would be appreciated by the family.
