MIDDLEBURY – The golf postseason lends to performing at the highest level. Or surviving to see another day.
NorthWood did the latter, posting a 344 to finish third at the Northridge Boys Golf Sectional Friday afternoon at Meadow Valley Golf Club.
The Panthers had Earl Williams finish fifth overall at 81, but had to scramble with 85s from Jon Cripe and Cooper Wiens, and a 93 from Ben Vincent count as it took the final team ticket to the Plymouth Regional next Thursday at Swan Lake.
Northridge, playing with a chip on its shoulder after missing out on a chance at a Northern Lakes Conference title two weeks ago on a disqualified score, outgunned fellow NLC rivals Goshen, 328-341, with the Panthers three back of the RedHawks. Concord was fourth at 354 and Lakeland fifth at 357 in the 11-team field.
Ridge’s Ty Miller was the individual medalist at 75, with Lakeland’s Ben Keil and Goshen’s Chase Meyer one back at 76. Brock Reschly of Northridge shot 78 to place fourth.
Keil and the Concord duo of Will Harris (82) and Andrew BonDurant (84) advance to the regional as individuals.
